TOURIST SIGNS AT LAST!!

March 14, 2017 5:56 PM

Shropshire Councillor Heather Kidd has welcomed the final erection of brown tourist signs around her home village of Chirbury over a year after they were ordered and 4 months after she found them mouldering at the back of a council depot.

Heather said: "Chirbury is quite a historic village and we have been looking forward to these signs going up for quite a while."

Heather Kidd asked the Parish Council to pay for them with money's from a planning permission. They agreed and the order was placed.

Hearther continued: "Unfortunately the Council's contractors - Ringway - didn't think that this was a priority. We missed the last tourist season despite prompting from me. It was September when I found out that the signs had been delivered and were sitting in a corner of the Councils Depot in Craven Arms( and had been for some time). I then began the process of nagging for them to be put up! That's not the first time I have had to resort to that.

"The village is really pleased that they have gone up at long last but why has it taken so long for it to happen?"
