"When Councillor Jonny Keeley decided to step down owing to family pressures- - full time work and 3 children - Ruth stepped into the breach and has worked tirelessly to win this election." Said Heather Kidd, neighbouring Councillor for Chirbury and Worthen. " We now have a complete local team again covering the whole of south west Shropshire from Worthen to Bishops Castle and Bucknell. She will make a fantastic and committed new councillor."

"I am delighted to have been elected as the Liberal Democrat Shropshire Councillor for Bishop's Castle and overwhelmed by the support that I have received through the votes cast and very pleased with the majority. Since winning I have received many messages of support and good wishes too and would like to thank everyone that voted for me." Said Ruth

"My job now is to represent the people of Bishop's Castle and surrounding area and to make sure that the services we value are secured for everyone in our community. I will also follow up on the many issues raised with me on the doorstep, potholes and housing being the two main issues to start with. I couldn't have achieved this without the support of the many volunteers who helped in many ways including leaflet delivery and canvassing and also the local liberal democrat team, they have all been amazingly supportive."

Ruth achieved 71% (838) of the vote against 19% (229) for the Conservatives and 9% (107)for Labour.
